Big Chill - New Delhi, India

Italian with a retro Hollywood theme. This is how Big Chill can be described in a nutshell. Whether its the enticing pasta, the crunchy pizzas or the decadent desserts, Big Chill never disappoints.

It is a casual place to hang out with your family or friends. Situated in the heart of the bustling area of South Delhi, Big Chill caters to all generations. Getting a place is not easy, so be prepared for the long wait. But once you get one, the service is impeccable. The joy of enjoying the food you love, the food that satisfies my craving for cheesy and gluttonous Italian food.

On my last visit to India, I couldn't stop myself from paying homage to this food temple. I went for my favourites. Fusilli Chicken Piri Piri, the Four Season pizza (Sun dried tomatoes and aubergines) and of course, the Iced Tea pitcher.

A menu comprising prawn with vodka in tomato sauce, angry chicken pasta, Mississippi Mud pie and Chocolate superfudge brownies gives you a mouth watering feeling.

A place definitely not to be missed on your next visit to India.

Ribs and Burgers - Rhodes

Among high-rise buildings, the cosmopolitan crowd, the riverside walk and a bustling shopping centre, Rhodes seems to have it all but exceptional restaurants. And this is where Ribs and Burger stands out as a huge sigh of relief. Based next to the Rhodes Shopping Centre, the place has been wholeheartedly embraced by the inner-west residents.

A great place to hang-out for a weekend lunch or to have a quick bite after hours of shopping, the place would not disappoint.

With a 'Butcher's Shop' feel and a relaxing and cozy ambience, this eatery is the ultimate destination for all the burger and meat lovers out there.

For first time visitors, I recommend to order the 'Mini Burgers'. With the mini version of the lamb, chicken and beef burgers on offer in one meal, a meal that is small yet so big, your taste buds will celebrate the distinguished elements of this dish. On one hand you have the minced lamb, chutney and caramelized onions that brings out the amazing flavours in the lamb burger and on the other you have the lip smacking flavours of the premium Wagyu beef combined with spanish onions and topped with a BBQ sauce. The chicken burger with cajun spice, salsa, avocado and chilli mayo might not be the best burger on offer but manages to balance out the overpowering flavours from the lamb and beef burger.

For the vegetarians out there, the ultimate surprise is hidden in the 'Veggie' burger. The earthy taste of grilled mushrooms, the moist and mild zucchini, salty and rubbery haloumi, home made aioli and the crispiness of onion rings makes this dish yummy to the core.

You don't feel guilty until you have the feeling of fulfillment. The 'Yogurt Thick Shakes' accomplishes this for you.

Ribs and Burgers have 7 other locations, so head out and tantalize your taste buds.

Senyai, Sydney

Sydneysiders seem to have a great liking for Thai food. You can witness this from the bustling Thai eating scene and the hoards of new restaurants opening in the city. The competition is tough and every restaurant is trying hard to distinguish itself from the other one. Senyai is exactly one of those restaurants.

Based in the traffic packed Regent Place in a narrow laneway, Senyai reminds me of Bangkok's lively backstreets. On the first glance itself, you are attracted to the vintage yet modern feel of this eatery. The redolence of the wooden teak walls, the vibrance and charm of the colourful plates, artifacts and memorabilia presents an amazing vibe the moment you walk in.

We started with the tofu filled spring rolls and the crispy prawns. Both the entrees had the right level of crispiness and crunch, however lacked the freshness, tanginess or the spice punch.

Senyai too has an exciting menu but you get pulled into ordering the tried and tested chicken green curry and stir-fried basil chicken. The dishes were hot, well cooked but again lacked the level of spice kick you would expect from a Thai dish.

The word on the street is that Senyai offers the best Thai noodles in town and Senyai, definitely did not disappoint. Less oily with the freshness of bean sprouts and the crunchiness of peanuts, combined with the mouth-watering and exotic Thai flavours, both Chicken Pad Thai and the Tofu Tom Yum noodles were a winner.

Looking for a cheap eat for lunch or dinner or something that is not overly spicy for your taste buds, Senyai is just minutes away from your workplace.

Enjoy eating and reading!!

Revolver Cafe - Annandale

A cafe with a Victorian charm amalgamated with modern day elements in a very laid back suburban space! This is 'Revolver' for you. On the verge of being a pub to a general store and now a popular cafe, the Revolver cafe building has had a pretty intriguing history. No wonder, Annandale locals simply adore this place. Like so many of its patrons, I too had an astounding experience at Revolver. The food and the hospitality simply raised the bar for me.

Food critics have already labelled Revolver as the place for the favourite burger in Sydney but this is not what my taste buds were craving for, on that Saturday morning. Out for a brunch with my mates, I was after an ideal meal comprising of fresh juices, veggies, eggs and a mug of soothing coffee. The menu at Revolver provided me just that.

The 'Veggie Big Breakfast' had the classic baked eggs, the freshness of avocado, the smokiness of eggplant, the creaminess of ricotta, luscious beetroot relish, roasted tomatoes and beans with sourdough toast on the side.

My wife went for the opposite! Freshness minus the richness. 'The Trout Rosti'! Smoked ocean trout with the invigorating avocado layered with baby spinach, the sweetness of red capsicum and the sourness of corn rosti made this dish delectable.

To end the brunch on a high note I required the ultimate caffeine kick and the awakening skimmed latte exactly did the trick for me.

So no plans for next weekend? You exactly know where to go!!
