For some eateries its not about the decor or the location, as long as the food tastes bloody awesome! Faheem falls into this bracket. Just forget about how the food is being served, it is heavenly from the first bite. Offering authentic Indian-Pakistani cuisine, the food does the talking, while you enjoy munching it. The dishes that are served here originate from the Mughlai and Nizam style of cooking. In a nutshell, food the royals love to eat!
Moving on to the dishes I tried on my recent visit.
Everyone knows what 'Tandoori Chicken' (Chicken on the bone, marinated in yogurt and traditional spices overnight and cooked in a Tandoor or conventional oven) is, after all its the most famous dish from the Indian sub-continent. What people don't know is that Faheem's, without a doubt in my mind, serves Sydney's best Tandoori Chicken. Taste it to believe it.
'Sheek Kebab' is minced beef marinated in ginger, garlic, fresh coriander, spices, skewered and cooked in a tandoor. A dish that melts in your mouth and consists of tongue-popping flavours.
To balance out the spices is another great and popular dish, 'Haleem' King of Currie'. Four different kinds of lentils are cooked together with a mixture of boneless beef to provide you a traditional Pakistani curry.
For the lovers of spicy and oily dishes, someone who doesn't mind the saturated fat content, try the 'Keema Matar'. Peas and Lamb mince are cooked with fresh ginger, garlic and oriental herbs to provide you yet another sizzling combination of a hot curry.
My favourite dish is the 'Chicken Biryani'. Its a delectable blend of chicken and basmati rice mixed with traditional hot spices, ginger, garlic, tomatoes and yogurt and cooked in a Pakistani style. Dashing, Different and Delicious.
The Naan is as good as it can get. The other accompaniments, Poppadums and the chilli pickle are nice too.
You would definitely leave with a stomach full and a big smile :)
