A key part of your journey to Bali should include tasting the authentic Indonesian cuisine and there is no better place to go than Bumbu.
Panoramic views of the beach, a traditionally crafted village setting and a sincere Balinese hospitality provides you with a great experience of Indonesian food and culture.
Only on a 4 day trip to Bali and so much to explore, we reserved our last lunch at Bumbu and ended up having a memorable and authentic dining experience.
However, I would recommend to visit Bumbu at night and enjoy the ambience with glittering lights, the night food market and the pleasant breeze from the ocean. It will be a delightful experience.
After chilling down post some Indonesian Iced Tea we ordered two dishes on the courteous staffs recommendation.
Nasi Toempeng - Traditional turmeric rice cooked with coconut milk in cone of banana leaf served with fried chicken, urap vegetables, shredded omlette, sambal bean curd, prawn balado (chilli sambal) and perkedel (mashed potato patties).
The interesting fact mentioned to us was that in Bali rice is the main staple of each meal and contrary to Western cuisine, meat, fish or vegetable becomes a side dish.
The second dish was a lighter one, a salad. Asinan Djakarta - Vegetables asinan pickles preserved with thin slice of Chinese cabbage, white and red cabbage, bean sprout, kucai (garlic chives), tofu and lettuce served with hot and sour peanut sauce topped with krupak (crackers) and fried peanuts.
In Bumbu Nusantara's words, "We offer genuine Indonesian food from the true sources".
