Métis, a French Mediterranean restaurant set amongst the gorgeous rice paddy fields, away from the crowded beaches is a hidden gem in the heart of Seminyak. We were welcomed by candlelight lit tables, a buzzing bar with green overtones and an open dining area overlooking the rice paddy fields that provided a classic yet cosmopolitan feel to the place. We were treated with an entirely sensory experience.
Métis also boasts of both, an extensive dinner and wine menu. The place truly offers the ultimate fine dining experience you would enjoy in Bali. While we were busy getting more and more intrigued by the menu we were served some bread rolls and complimentary butter (served in the most classic style). We always ask for the chef's recommendation if we are first timers at a restaurant. With more than twenty dishes to choose from the chef's recommendation was the way to go.
In the starters we ordered the "Yellow Fin Tuna Sashimi". Mediterranean flavours of ginger, crispy garlic and coriander mixed with light soy sauce and topped with ginger tempura made this dish simply luscious.
The first main course dish we ordered was the "Pan Seared Pacific Coral Trout". The fish was tender, moist and perfectly cooked. With French written all over it, the dish had the most refreshing ingredients that included parsley, lemon "beurre blanc" (butter sauce), confit capsicum, roasted potatoes and grilled marinated artichokes heart.
An equally fascinating dish was the "Pan Seared King Prawns". The prawns were infused in a basil sauce and dressed with a light coconut and tomato sauce. The dish was served with baby potatoes, healthy green asparagus and Shimeji mushrooms. Simply delectable.
The best part of a meal is the dessert. And with a mouth-watering selection of desserts, the choice wasn't an easy one.
My wife ordered the "Trio Créme Brûlée". It was the ultimate dessert. Enjoying three for the price of one. The earthy flavours of the Green Tea or the zesty Ginger and Lemon Grass and finally the never disappointing Vanilla and Raspberry, the desserts were tantalizing.

The "Pista Choc" Soufsoufflé was one of the most decadent desserts I've ever had. The melting Caraibe Chocolate Soufflé with Pistachio Parfait, Grapefruit Confit and Vanilla Cream on the side was so delicious that my sweet tooth was craving for more.
In MÉTIS own words, "MÉTIS is as fresh and sumptuous as the cuisine that graces its tables".
